Alchemilla is a perennial plant belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is appreciated for its medicinal properties and ornamental uses. It is distinguished by its palmate leaves, often shaped like a hand, which collect dew or rain, hence its name "Alchemilla," evoking magic or transformation. Flowering usually occurs in spring or early summer, with small yellow or green disc-shaped flowers.

Latin name: Alchemilla vulgaris

Herb class/action: soothing, astringent, healing, anti-inflammatory.

Parts used: mainly the leaves, but also young shoots and sometimes the flowers.

Flavor: astringent, slightly tart.
